Olsen & Jacobs Lead Roos in Road Loss at Morrisville

Morrisville, NY – Hunter Olsen scored three times and Alex Jacobs added two goals and an assist but the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team fell on the road at Morrisville State in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Olsen drew the Roos even at 1-1 just 3:41 in on his second goal of the young season. Logan McGargar picked up his first collegiate assist. Morrisville would score three straight to take a 4-1 lead after the opening quarter.
  • The Mustangs netted the first two goals of the second quarter before Jacobs recorded his first collegiate goal, which came man-up off a pass from Austin Mesler. The hosts led 11-2 at intermission.
  • Morrisville outscored Canton 6-1 in the third quarter with the lone Roos goal coming from the stick of Olsen which was set up by Jacobs. The Mustangs took a commanding 17-3 lead after 45 minutes of action.
  • Canton received fourth quarter goals from Tanner Amell, Olsen and Jacobs resulting in the 25-6 final.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Sam Servati made 28 saves in the loss for the Roos, while Dylan LaPlaced turned aside six shots in the win for the Mustangs.
  • Morrisville held the upper hand in shots on goal (53-12), ground balls (42-27 and face offs (21-11).
  • Olsen paced Canton with three goals, while Jacobs had two goals and an assist.
  • Morrisville was led by Zach Nestor (four goals, eight assists) and Roman Reiss (five goals, two assists). Dante Patriarco and Luke Strong finished with three goals and two assists each, while Savion Williams also scored three times.

The men's lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday when it visits Plattsburgh State at 4 p.m.
