Three Roos Reach Double Figures as Comeback Falls Just Short v. Broncos

Canton, NY – Quran DuBois, Peyton Olsen and Danny Santana all reached double figures in scoring as the Roos trimmed a 21 point second half deficit to six but SUNY Delhi survived for an 85-76 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win on Friday evening.

THE BASICS
  • Result: SUNY Delhi 85, SUNY Canton 76
  • Location: Stan Cohen Court – Canton, NY
  • Records: SUNY Delhi (18-6, 10-1 NAC) | SUNY Canton (11-11, 7-4 NAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Play was back-and-forth early on with the Broncos leading by eight on multiple occasions. The Roos would cut the deficit to just two at 25-23 before Delhi closed the half on a 20-8 run to take a commanding 45-31 lead into intermission.
  • The visitors extended their lead to as many as 21 (70-49) after an Isiah Barnes old-fashioned three-point play.
  • The Roos hung tough using a 24-9 run to cut the lead to just six with 50 seconds remaining. Brennan Harmer made a terrific defensive play stealing the ball with 41 seconds to go and his three-pointer in transition just barely hit off the back rim, which would've cut the deficit to just a single possession.
  • Norman Wilson went a perfect 6-for-6 at the charity stripe in the final 38 seconds to secure the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • DuBois led the Roos with 25 points and added seven rebounds. Olsen recorded 17 points, while Santana added 10 points. Andrew Fitch chipped in eight points and six rebounds. Justin Omaga ripped down a team-high nine boards.
  • Erhunosere Uwuigbe led all players with 29 points, while Pablo Quinones had a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds. Wilson (18), Jacob Beach (13) and Mavenson Therneus (10) all scored in double figures for Delhi.
  • SUNY Canton had the edge in bench points (28-15), while the Broncos had the upper hand in points in the paint (34-26) and points off turnovers (13-5).
  • With his two blocks Fitch jumped into a tie for seventh place all-time in NCAA D-III career blocks with 364.
