Potsdam, NY – Brendan Morrow and
Filip Jakobsson found the back of the net as the Roos got within one in the final minute, but Hamilton College survived for a 3-2 win in the opening game of the North Country Tournament at SUNY Potsdam on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Continentals opened the scoring just 54 seconds into the game when James Philpott scored unassisted. Hamilton outshot the Roos 9-5 in the first leading 1-0 after 20 minutes.
- Canton drew even at 16:57 of the second period. Evan Pringle started the break out from the back as Morrow and Matthew Headland played a give-and-go through the neutral zone. Morrow skated in on a breakaway deking Continental goaltender Charlie Archer for the score.
- Hamilton scored a pair of goals just over five minutes apart off the sticks of Max Wutzke and Cade Groton in the third period to open a two-goal advantage.
- The Roos pulled the goalie for the extra attacker and that paid off with 57 seconds left in the third period. Morrow won the puck behind the goal back to Pringle who played a quick cross-ice pass to Jakobsson who buried his first goal of the season. `
- Canton was able to get one more shot in the final minute, but the Continentals hung on for the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Morrow led the Roos with a goal and assist and went 14-for-24 on face offs. Pringle tallied a pair of assists. Cade Groton and Fred Allaire combined to go 20-for-29 on draws for Hamilton.
- Canton outshot the Continentals 28-23 including 14-5 in the second period.
- Archer made 26 saves in the win, while Filip Schlyter turned aside 20 shots in defeat.
- Canton killed off all four of its penalties, while the Hamilton penalty kill was 2-for-2.
