HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bears' Jack Loran scored a four-on-four goal to open the game, winning the draw and backhanding a shot over the blocker of freshman goalie Kelson Hooper.
  • Roos' junior Lucas Roy and Martin were also able to take advantage of the open ice, scoring less than a minute later when Roy hit Martin with a stretch pass, sending him in on a breakaway.  Martin deeked left and put a backhand shot over the glove of Bears goalie Stephen Friedland.
  • Michael McArthur closed out the first period with a power play goal, placing the puck just over Hooper's left shoulder, through a screen, to give SUNY Potsdam a 2-1 lead.
  • The Roos knotted the score at two when Martin created a turnover in the corner and fed Sirota who wristed a shot in the top right corner.
  • The Bears moved ahead once again on a Ryan Mahlmeister shot off the crossbar and into the net, making the score 3-2.
  • SUNY Canton scored the only goal of the third period when senior Nic Herringer tied the game 3-3 after stuffing home sophomore Colton Sipperley's wraparound attempt.  The play was also assisted by Sirota.
  • Both teams had their chances in overtime but it was the Bears' Loran who put home a cross-crease pass from McArthur to win the game 4-3 in OT.
