Levy Leads Roos in Road Loss at Alfred

Alfred, NY – DeMerrill Levy scored a team-high 11 points but an early double-digit deficit proved too much to overcome as the SUNY Canton men's basketball team fell on the road at Alfred on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Saxons, who were playing across the street from their campus, jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead just less than three minutes in. Juztin Chambers-Phillips got the Roos on the board with a pair of free throws 3:13 in.
  • Canton got within nine (13-4) but a 16-4 run opened up a commanding 21-point Alfred lead. The Saxons took a 46-20 lead into intermission.
  • Play was much more even in the second half with Alfred holding a slim 38-33 scoring advantage.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Levy finished with 11 points, while Chambers-Phillips had eight. Michael Nunnally chipped in six points, while Eli Larson and Terrence Fields had five apiece.
  • Adam Enders led a balanced Saxon scoring effort with 15 points, while Casey Curran (14), Brewster Marshall (12) and Elliot Bowen (11) all reached double figures.
  • The Saxons held the upper hand in rebounds (45-25) and second chance points (24-6).
  • Alfred shot 48 % from the field, while the Roos hit 37 % of their field goals.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The men's basketball team is back in action on Saturday when it squares off with Alfred State at 2 p.m. in a game played at Alfred University.
