Nadeau Leads Roos in Loss to SUNY Delhi

Canton, NY – Junior Bailey Nadeau tallied 14 digs and 12 assists but SUNY Canton dropped a 3-1 decision to SUNY Delhi in a Northern Athletic Conference (NAC) matchup.

THE BASICS
  • Result:  SUNY Delhi 3, SUNY Canton 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A tight set early, the Roos pulled ahead 15-9 on a kill by sophomore Cassidy Werner.  SUNY Canton continued to expand their lead and were only one point from taking the set (24-15) when SUNY Delhi stormed back.  The Broncos scored nine of the next ten points and tied the match at 25 all on a Sage Renneisen kill.  SUNY Delhi would eventually win the first set 27-25.
  • The second set was all Broncos early, as they raced out to a 14-2 lead.  SUNY Canton rallied to get within two (22-20) by scoring eight straight points.  However, the Broncos took three of the next four points to win 25-21.
  • The third set saw six lead changes and several lengthy runs.  SUNY Canton led 12-9 on a kill by junior Emily Dreyer.  SUNY Delhi scored seven straight to re-take the lead 16-12.  The Roos then went on a run of their own scoring 11 straight points to lead 24-17.  This time the Roos held on and took the set 25-18 on a kill by sophomore Alyssa Adams.
  • After a back-and-forth battle early on, the Broncos were able to jump ahead in the fourth set, 19-14 on a Gianna Militi ace. The Roos battled back to get within two (23-21) but SUNY Delhi hung on to win the set 25-21 and the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Dreyer finished the day with eight kills while sophomore Cadin Taggart scored seven to go along with four aces.
  • The Roos combined to block ten shots during the match and were credited with 12 aces.
  • Renneisen and Stephanie Burke led the Broncos with 14 kills each.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos head out on the road for matches against SUNY Poly and Cazenovia College at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. respectively in NAC Pool Play.
