Raven Eclipses 1,000 Career Point Milestone as Roos Cruise Past Express

Aurora, NY – Chelsey Raven scored 16 points to eclipse the 1,000 career point milestone as the SUNY Canton women's basketball team cruised to a 90-26 road win at Wells College in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.

The senior from Ogdensburg scored 751 points during her two-year career at Jefferson Community College and currently has 251 points in her 18 games in a SUNY Canton uniform.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos roared out to a 25-7 lead after the opening quarter and held the Express to just two points in the second stanza opening a commanding 56-9 lead at intermission.
  • SUNY Canton continued to fire on all cylinders outscoring the hosts 34-17 after halftime while seeing many of their reserves see extended minutes.
  • All 12 Roos who entered the game saw at least 12 minutes of action and all scored at least one field goal.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Seattle Lettau led the way with game-highs of 17 points and five assists as she went 1-for-2 from three-point range and was a perfect 7-for-7 inside the arc. Raven finished with 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting with six rebounds and three assists.
  • The senior made a jumper from the right side with 6:52 left in the third quarter to reach the 1,000 point mark.
  • Antanasia Chambers chipped in 12 points, Joie Culkin added 11 points and seven rebounds, and Mya Hodge supplied nine points. Shanelle Borth registered seven points and Briana Brousseau and Shannyn St. Andrews hauled down team-highs of 10 rebounds. Emily Brooks also recorded her first basket in a SUNY Canton uniform.
  • Lydia Thomas paced Wells with 10 points, while Morgan Adams recorded nine points and 14 rebounds.
  • SUNY Canton recorded season-highs in points (90), field goals made (37), free throw attempts (26), steals (25) and assists (22).
  • The Roos held key advantages in rebounds (59-37), points off turnovers (36-18), points in the paint (48-10) and fast break points (28-2).  
  • SUNY Canton shot 49.3% from the field and 30.4% from long distance.
