Brockport, NY – Matt Passaretti scored his first collegiate goal to get the Roos within one in the second period but host Brockport scored five of the final six goals of the game to earn a 7-2 win v. the SUNY Canton men's hockey team on Friday evening.

THE BASICS
  • Result: Brockport 7, SUNY Canton 2
  • Location: Tuttle North Ice Arena – Brockport, NY
  • Records: Brockport (11-5-0) | SUNY Canton (6-7-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Brockport jumped out to a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes behind goals from Ryan Romeo and Andrew Harley. The Golden Eagles held a 20-8 shots advantage in the opening period.
  • Canton got within one at 6:33 of the second period. Filip Jakobsson fed the puck cross ice on the breakout into the offensive zone to Jesse Farabee above the right circle. His initial shot was saved by Brockport goalie Nolan Egbert, but the rebound went right to Passaretti who ripped a shot top shelf from the top of the right circle.
  • Brockport responded one minute later on Harley's second tally of the night, this one on the power play. The hosts extended the lead to 4-1 at 12:03 on a Connor Gallaway marker.
  • The Roos got within two on a defensive zone face off win at 15:20 of the middle period. Brendan McCormack won the puck back to Connor Tuttle as he found Bannister through the neutral zone. Just as he skated across the blue line Bannister roofed a wrist shot top shelf past Egbert.
  • The Golden Eagles added an important goal with less than two minutes left in the middle period off the stick of Sam DiBitetto to lead 5-2 after two.
  • The hosts would tack on a pair of goals in the third period from Scott Ramaekers and Anthony Hora for the 7-2 final.
