Andrew Fitch provided a strong presence defensively with nine blocks as the SUNY Canton men's basketball team picked up a big 71-69 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) win at Thomas College on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team led by more than four points in what was an extremely even first half as the squads went into intermission knotted at 30 apiece.
- Play was once again tight with neither team able to gain larger than a four point lead over the first 12 minutes of the second half.
- With the game tied at 62 with 5:25 to play Canton rattled off a 7-0 run including four points from DuBois. The 69-62 lead for the Roos with 3:44 to play was the largest for either team in the game.
- The Terriers were able to trim the deficit to just two after a Sawyer Deprey layup with 46 seconds remaining. Canton missed the front end of a one-and-one with 26 seconds to go and Deprey's three-pointer to give Thomas the lead with seven seconds left was just off the mark as the Roos earned the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- DuBois led all players with 21 points and added seven rebounds and three assists. DeMerill Levy finished with 15 points shooting 6-for-9 from the field, while Santana added 10 points. Juztin Chambers-Phillips supplied nine points, all of which came on threes.
- Fitch was a force changing the game defensively with nine blocks and nine rebounds. With his nine blocks Fitch moves into 12th place all-time in NCAA Division III in career blocks (341). Through games played on January 14th he currently ranks first in the country in D-III this season in blocks per game (5.31), and is adding to that number with today's performance.
- Deprey led Thomas with 19 points, while Demetris Webster added 14 points.
- The Roos shot 50.9% from the field, while holding the Terriers to 36.4% shooting.
