Adams & Balcom Lead Women’s Volleyball Against St. John Fisher & Plattsburgh

Canton, NY – Alyssa Adams and Sarah Balcom paced the Roos with 14 kills on the day but the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to St. John Fisher College and Plattsburgh State to close out the North Country Classic on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
MATCH 1 – BOX SCORE
  • St. John Fisher defeated the Roos in straight sets in the opener by scores of 25-10, 25-12 and 25-14.
  • Adams finished the match with a team-high six kills on 12 swings (.500 hitting percentage). Balcom and Emily Dreyer combined for six kills on 13 attack attempts.
  • Peyton Nadeau chipped in defensively with five digs, while Michaella DeCapua dished out six assists.
  • Alea Steigerwald led the Cardinal attack with eight kills, while Kara Ballmer and Olivia Nellis supplied six kills each.
 
MATCH 2 – BOX SCORE
  • Plattsburgh State earned a 3-0 win v. the Roos in the nightcap with 25-9, 25-7 and 25-14 victories.
  • Balcom posted a team-best three kills, while Adams added two. Cadin Taggart registered a team-best seven digs and Bailey Nadeau dished out six assists.
  • Ann Beauchamp paced the visitors with nine kills, while Payton Zophy added eight and Kaitlyn Bjelko finished with six. Olga Muka and Emma Rivers ran the offense with 14 assists apiece.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos are schedule to return to action next Friday when they open play in the Oswego State Tournament. SUNY Canton has a rematch with St. John Fisher at 4 p.m. followed by an 8 p.m. matchup v. Utica.
