Dayter and Parks Combine for Seven Goals as Women’s Lacrosse Opens NAC Play with Win v. Wildcats

Canton, NY – Samantha Dayter posted game-highs of four goals and two assists as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team earned an 11-9 win v. visiting Cazenovia College in both team's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Dayter was outstanding leading all players in goals (4), assists (2), points (6) and ground balls (4) on the day. Erin Parks also recorded a hat trick, while Casey Pelton found the back of the net twice.
  • EllaRose LeMay finished with a goal and assist, while Lindsey Wunder tallied a goal, four ground balls and three draw controls. Maddy Weir picked up a team-best four draw controls and Shelby Roberts finished with a game-best four caused turnovers to go with two ground balls.
  • Canton opened up an early 3-0 lead and led 4-1 and 5-2 before Cazenovia netted two straight goals to cut the deficit to 5-4 at intermission.
  • The Wildcats scored the first goal out of halftime to knot the game at five apiece. From there, the teams exchanged goals before the Roos put home four straight tallies to open up an 11-8 lead with 6 minutes 57 seconds remaining after Pelton put home her second goal of the game.
  • Cazenovia trimmed the lead to two when Angela Nuzzo recorded her fourth goal of the game, but the Roos sealed the win controlling possession in the final minute.
  • Madison Leary made four timely saves on the afternoon for the Roos, while Amanda Drazek turned aside 13 shots for the Wildcats.
  • Nuzzo paced Cazenovia with four goals, while Maureen James finished with two goals and one assist. Sydney Allan supplied a goal and assist, while Madison Sciera and Callie Andolina recorded one goal each.
