Dow’s Hat Trick Leads Men’s Lacrosse in Setback at Delhi

Delhi, NY – Trent Dow led the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team with three goals but the Roos fell 19-8 in a key North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest at SUNY Delhi on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Broncos jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the opening quarter. The Roos knotted the game up at 3-3 after Jacob Facey score a man-up goal just more than five minutes into the second quarter.
  • From there it was all Delhi as they scored nine of the next 10 goals opening up a commanding 12-4 lead just less than three minutes into the third quarter.
  • Canton got within 15-8 early in the fourth quarter after Dow's third tally of the game, but the hosts scored the final four goals of the game to seal the victory.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Hunter Olsen led Canton with five points on two goals and three assists, while Dow posted three goals and an assist. Kyle Fingar netted a pair of goals and Facey had the other Canton score.
  • Brandon Schmidt picked up five ground balls and caused two turnovers. Parker Hornung also forced two turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
  • The Roos struggled in the X as Delhi (20) nearly doubled up Canton (11) on face offs. Canton turned the ball over 23 times compared to just 13 for Delhi. The Broncos doubled up the Roos 36-18 in shots on goal.
  • Justin LaDuke made 17 saves in the loss for the Roos, while Dante Restaino turned aside 10 shots for Delhi.
  • Aidan Costello led all players with nine points on seven goals and two assists for the hosts.
