Three Roos Score as Women’s Lacrosse Drops Road Tilt at Utica

Utica, NY – Karlie McCarthy, Erin Parks and Lindsey Wunder all found the back of the net but the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team fell 16-3 in a non-conference road game at Utica College on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The host Pioneers controlled the first half outscoring visiting SUNY Canton 13-0 in the opening 30 minutes.
  • After halftime play was even with the teams each finding the back of the net three times.
  • Wunder got Canton on the board on her second goal of the season less than four minutes into the second half. Casey Pelton found McCarthy for her first goal of the season four minutes later.
  • The Pioneers responded with three straight goals before Samantha Dayter fed Parks for her fourth goal of the season.
  • Parks led Canton with four draw controls, while Reegan Sheehy forced a team-best two turnovers. Dayter, Wunder and Maddy Weir picked up three ground balls each.
  • Weir finished with six saves allowing 13 goals in the first half. Olivia Scott surrendered three goals in the second half. Claire Frier turned aside one shot without allowing a goal in the opening half.
  • Lexi Scaccia paced the Pioneers with six goals and three assists, while Stephanie Husnay added two goals and three assists.

The women's lacrosse team opens North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Thursday when it hosts Cazenovia College at 4 p.m.
