Facey and Olsen Lead Men’s Lacrosse Past Tigers, 21-14, on Senior Day

Canton, NY – Jacob Facey and Hunter Olsen combined for 18 points as the men's lacrosse team earned a 21-14 win v. SUNY Cobleskill in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Senior Day on Saturday in Canton.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • SUNY Cobleskill held a slim 5-4 lead after the opening quarter. The Roos bounced back outscoring the Tigers 4-1 in the second quarter to take an 8-6 lead into intermission.
  • SUNY Canton dominated in the third quarter outscoring the visitors 9-2 in the stanza to take a commanding 17-8 lead into the final quarter. The Roos were able to get multiple reserves en route to the eight-goal win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Facey led all players with seven goals and added an assist and four ground balls. Olsen finished with a game-best 10 points and seven assists, while adding three goals and seven ground balls.
  • Noah Robinson totaled two goals, three assists, eight ground balls and two caused turnovers. Trent Dow and Kyle Fingar supplied four and three goals, respectively, while combining for nine ground balls.
  • Zack LaFave finished with two goals and one assist and Brandon Schmidt added an assist and 10 ground balls. Nick Walberger picked up a game-high 12 ground balls and went 23-for-32 on face offs. Noel Abreu was 3-for-6 on draws and Rico Dobbs went 1-for-1 in his return to the lineup.
  • The Roos controlled shots (56-34), shots on goal (41-24), ground balls (65-42) and face offs (27-12).
  • Justin LaDuke posted six saves over the first 41:41 in the win, while Nick Snyder stopped four shots over the final 18:19 in relief. Sean McMahon finished with 20 saves in the loss for Cobleskill.
  • Kerry Blackwood and Sean D'Amaro led the Tigers with four goals each, while Nick Dominic finished with a game-high six caused turnovers.
