Delhi, NY – Jordan Knapp led the Roos with three hits on the day but the SUNY Canton softball team dropped a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader by scores of 5-4 and 11-3 to host SUNY Delhi on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- The Roos opened up a 3-0 lead after four innings with one run in the third and two in the fourth. The Broncos knotted the game at three apiece bringing three runners across in the sixth inning.
- The teams would need extra innings to decide the opener. In extra innings in softball a runner is placed at second base to start the inning. Mackenzie Currie, the last batter in the previous inning, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Knapp single. SUNY Canton got runners to first and second with one out but were unable to score more than one run in the eighth.
- In the bottom of the inning Delhi scored their first run in a similar fashion advancing to third on a wild pitch and scoring on an RBI single. A walk and ground out advanced runners to second and third where the winning run scored on a wild pitch.
- Knapp went 2-for-4 driving in a run, while Sophia Harris and Hailey Bentley finished with a hit and RBI each. Madison Austin and Angelina LoPiccolo also recorded hits for the Roos.
- Kayla Chavarri took the loss on the mound surrendering four earned runs with 10 strike outs in 7.1 innings.
- Mel Papuli picked up the win for Delhi scattering one earned run over 8.0 innings with eight fanned batters.
- Kayla Beers, Shelby Nolan and Papuli all had two hits each for Delhi, while Dakota Baker drove in a pair of runs.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- The Bronco bats came out strong in the nightcap as they plated four runs in the first inning. Canton battled back with three runs in the top half of the third.
- Harris brought home Shaylyn DeVito on an RBI ground out. Madison Austin crossed the plate when Mackenzie Currie reached on an error and Knapp singled home Currie.
- The game remained tight until the fifth and sixth innings as Delhi combined for seven runs to close out the victory in six innings.
- Knapp finished with a hit and RBI and Harris also drove in a run. Alaina Beane, Austin, Bentley and Knapp also had hits for Canton.
- Beane took the loss on the mound allowing seven earned runs with three strike outs in 5.1 innings.
- Katelynn Rose picked up the victory for Delhi giving up one earned run with one strike out in 6.0 innings.
- Mackenzie Sparacino and Rose supplied two hits each, while Rose and Beers drove in a pair of runs each for the Broncos.

WHAT'S NEXT
These two teams will have a rematch on Sunday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The games were originally scheduled to be played in Delhi but now have been moved to Canton due to rain in the forecast for Sunday in Delhi.
No spectators are permitted at Sunday's doubleheader.
