Facey’s Three Goals Leads Roos in Setback v. Wildcats

Marcy, NY – Senior Jacob Facey led the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team with three goals but the Roos fell 19-10 on the road in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • SUNY Poly jumped out to an early 3-1 lead before Facey and Brandon Schmidt netted back-to-back goals to tie the game at 3-3. The Wildcats responded with two goals over the final 75 seconds to take a 5-3 lead after the opening quarter.
  • The hosts outscored Canton 4-3 in the second stanza to take a 9-6 lead into intermission.
  • The Roos scored two of the first three goals in the third quarter off the sticks of Facey and Kyle Fingar to get within 10-8. Trent Dow set up both tallies offensively.
  • From there it was all Wildcats as they scored eight unanswered goals to seal the victory.  
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Facey led the Roos with three goals and an assist, while Hunter Olsen added two goals and one assist. Dow also had three points on a goal and two helpers. Fingar and Noah Robinson supplied one goal and one assist each, while Schmidt and Zack LaFave also scored.
  • Nick Walberger went 16-for-29 on face offs and led Canton with four ground balls. Hunter Roberts finished with a team-high three caused turnovers and added three ground balls.
  • Edward Rosaschi led the Poly attack with five goals, while Ryan Mead added three goals.
  • Justin LaDuke turned aside 17 shots over the first 52:49 while allowing 16 goals. Nick Snyder made one save allowing three goals in relief.
  • SUNY Poly controlled shots on goal (37-14) and ground balls (41-21), while the Roos had the edge in face offs (17-16).

The men's lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday when they visit SUNY Cobleskill at 4 p.m.
