Marcy, NY – Kay Carlson and
Victoria Norton led the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team at a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Crossover at SUNY Poly on Saturday.
Carlson totaled 33 digs on the day while Norton paced the Roos with 16 kills. The Roos fell to Cazenovia 3-0 in the opener before dropping a 3-1 decision to SUNY Poly in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED
MATCH 1 – BOX SCORE
- Cazenovia jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the opening set and led 20-14 before the Roos closed to within 20-18. The Wildcats scored four straight points to lead 24-18 before Canton responded with four straight points of their own. Karissa Decosse closed out the first set with a kill to give Caz the 25-22 win.
- The Wildcats led 13-7 in set two before Canton closed to within 23-21 late following a pair of Emily Dreyer kills. Cazenovia recorded the final two points of the frame to survive, 25-21.
- The Roos shot out to a 6-0 lead in the final set behind the service game of Dreyer. She recorded four aces during the run. Canton led 9-2 but Cazenovia battled back to take a 12-11 lead and used a 6-0 run to open up a 20-14 advantage. The Wildcats closed out the match in straight sets with the 25-20 win.
- Gabrielle Durant and Norton led the Canton attack with six kills each, while Dreyer and Alyssa Adams tallied four each. Carlson registered a match-best 17 digs, while Michaella DeCapua tallied 10 digs. Dreyer and DeCapua finished with five and three aces, respectively, while Bailey Nadeau added 12 assists.
- Emma Horsch, Michaela Meyer and Decosse led Cazneovia with seven kills each.
MATCH 2 – BOX SCORE
- SUNY Poly took a commanding 25-13 victory in the opening set before edging out the Roos 25-21 in the second stanza. Canton battled back with a 25-21 of their own in the third set before the Wildcats survived a thrilling fourth set, 25-23. Canton trailed 23-18 in the fourth set rattling off five of six points to get within 25-23 before a Ryan Fitzgerald kill sealed the victory.
- Norton and Adams led the Canton attack with 10 kills apiece. Cadin Taggart finished with nine kills and Carlson totaled 16 digs. Sarah Balcom led the Roos with three aces and Nadeau had 14 assists.
- Emma Draper led Poly with 11 kills, while Fitzgerald, Brennah Durfee and Sabrina Trimblett supplied eight kills each.

The Roos return to the court next Saturday (10/16) when they host SUNY Cobleskill at 1 p.m.
