Women’s Hockey Releases 2021-22 Schedule

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's hockey team will play a 25-game regular season schedule that includes 11 home games.

The team's slate includes 18 Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) contests with three games each against the other six league opponents.

The Roos will host Paul Smith's in a pair of exhibition contests on October 22nd and 23rd prior to the start of the regular season.

SUNY Canton officially opens the 2021-22 season with a road series at King's College on October 30th and 31st. The Roos return home for their NEWHL and home opener v. Morrisville State on November 12th.

The team will play its next five games on the road before closing the first semester with four consecutive games in the Roos House v. Buffalo State (12/3), Plattsburgh State (12/4) and a series with Wilkes University (12/10-11).

After nearly a month off SUNY Canton returns to league action with a pair of home games v. Plattsburgh State (1/7) and SUNY Cortland (1/8) in their first games of 2022. After a quick break from conference play with a road trip to NESCAC foe Wesleyan University (1/11) the remainder of Canton's schedule will feature NEWHL opponents.

Other second semester home games include SUNY Potsdam (1/21), Oswego State (2/11), Morrisville State (2/18) and SUNY Cortland (2/19).

The top four teams during regular season play will qualify for the NEWHL Tournament. The semifinals are set for February 26th with the championship scheduled to be played on March 5th. The winner of the NEWHL Tournament will earn the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.

"After last season it's great for the players and staff to see a full schedule ahead of us," Head Coach Dave LaBaff said. "We get to play some new teams out of the conference, and as always compete in the best NCAA D-III women's hockey conference in the country. We are excited to get the season under way and see what it has in store for us."
