Utica, NY – Samantha Dayter led the Roos with three goals and three assists but the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team fell 18-9 in a non-conference road contest at Utica College on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Utica jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the opening eight minutes before Canton responded with three consecutive goals.
- Molly Denny got the Roos on the board 8:14 in off the setup from Dayter before Dayter found Logan Bush. Bush tallied her second straight goal in 17 seconds on Karlie McCarthy's first collegiate assist.
- The Pioneers rattled off the next five goals to open a 9-3 advantage with just less than 13 minutes to play in the opening half.
- Dayter and Bush scored a woman-down and woman-up goal, respectively, to close out the first-half scoring for the Roos as the team trailed 12-5 at intermission.
- Dayter scored a pair of second half goals and McCarthy and Erin Parks also found the back of the net leading to the 18-9 final score.
- Bush and Dayter tallied three goals and ground balls each, while Dayter supplied three assists and a team-high seven draw controls. Dayter now leads the team with 11 points this season. Bush added four draw controls.
- Lexi Scaccia led all players with six goals and two assists for the Pioneers, while Stephanie Husnay (3-1-4) and Lauren Wolff (1-3-4) added four points each.
- Nicole Piskorowski made six saves allowing 12 scores in the opening half, while Madison Leary totaled five saves and surrendered six goals.
- Claire Frier made 14 saves in the win, while Hali Vandermeulen made one stop in relief.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Roos are back in action on Monday when they square off with Carroll University at 9:30 a.m. in Florida in the Spring Fling Tournament.
