Canton, NY – Jake Mayette posted a game-high three points on a goal and two assists but four unanswered goals lifted Morrisville State to a 6-4 victory v. the SUNY Canton men's hockey team on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead less than three minutes into the game. Just 25 seconds into the contest Kyler Matthews scored his fourth goal of the season. Jake Mayette won a faceoff at the right circle back to Matthews who put a wrist shot from the right point past the stick side of Owen Liskiewicz.
- Two minutes later Tyson Bruce converted his fourth goal of the season. Brendan McCormack collected the puck at the left circle leaving it for Max Routledge. Routledge played a nifty pass across the slot to Bruce who backhanded a shot inside the left post.
- Morrisville responded with four straight goals in the remainder of the first and early in the second period to take a 4-2 lead.
- James Boisvert swung the puck left to right at the point to Nick DeVito. He found Eric Melso at the right circle who beat Austin Washkurak on a sharp-angled shot at 10:22. Four minutes later Christian Vella tallied his second of the season on a rebound out in front. Nick DeVito and Melso earned helpers on the play.
- The Mustangs took their first lead of the game 2:14 into the second when Jesse Anderson played the puck back to James Boisvert in the Morrisville defensive zone. Boisvert skated the length of the ice and beat Austin Washkurak high glove side. Bennett Weycker extended the visitors lead to two a couple of minutes later converting on the power play.
- Brendan McCormack got the Roos back within one on the skater advantage with 24 seconds left in the middle period. The Mustangs led 4-3 after two.
- Ryan Bochert added what proved to be a crucial insurance goal at 4:11 of the third period.
- The Roos got within one with 1:53 left in regulation as Jake Mayette tallied his fourth goal of the season off passes from Matthew Headland and Jesse Farabee. Canton pulled the goalie late but a Vella empty-netter with five seconds left sealed the win.
- Washkurak made nine saves allowing four goals in the start, while Michael Cerasuolo took the loss surrendering just one goal making 14 saves in relief.
- Owen Liskiewicz turned aside 41 shots for the Mustangs as the Roos outshot Morrisville, 45-29.
- Morrisville went 2-for-9 on the power play, while the Roos were 1-for-5.

The Roos return to the ice on Tuesday when they host SUNY Cortland at 6 p.m.
