HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Adam Petric got the Roos on the board first at 10:27 of the first period on his first goal of the season. Connor Tuttle hit Farabee with a breakout pass into the Canton offensive zone. Farabee played the puck at the far boards down low to Petric who circled behind the net and fired a shot short side past Lions goaltender McKenzie Chalmers.
  • Canton doubled its lead with one minute left in the first period off a defensive zone turnover by Bryn Athyn. A.J. D'Orazio kept the puck in the offensive zone passing to Sam Martin along the far boards. Martin hit Bannister down low as he beat Chalmers top shelf with a shot from below the right circle.
  • Anna Maria got on the board with a Tanner Congdon power play goal at 17:21 of the second period. The Roos responded with the skater advantage with just 15 seconds left in the second period. Connor Tuttle hit Farabee with a pass from the defensive zone to mid-ice. Farabee skated between a pair of Lion defenders and fired a sharp-angle shot that deflected off a defenseman's stick and in. Canton led 3-1 after two periods.
  • The hosts added to their lead just 39 seconds into the third period. Sean Shepard won the puck just inside the Canton defensive zone at the far boards as Farabee and Sean David skated into the offensive zone 2-on-1. Farabee hit David to his left at the left circle as he put home a one-timer inside the left post.
  • The Roos extended the lead to 5-1 at 13:57 when Noah Robinson moved the puck forward along the far boards off a defensive zone faceoff. Martin and Bannister skated 2-on-1 as Martin's initial shot was saved by Chalmers but Bannister put home the rebound top shelf.
  • Canton closed out the scoring with 35 seconds remaining on Robinson's fifth of the season. Robinson's initial shot went wide right off the end boards to Farabee at the right post who appeared to score but the rebound came out to Robinson in the low slot who finished. David also picked up a helper on the play.
  • Michael Cerasuolo made 28 saves in the win, while Chalmers turned aside 24 shots in the loss.
  • Canton went 1-for-2 on the power play while killing off eight of their nine penalties.
