Lyndonville, VT – Quran DuBois and
Joseph Werner led the SUNY Canton men's basketball team with 43 combined points but host NVU-Lyndon pulled away over the final 10 minutes and held off the Roos for a 92-90 win in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- DuBois was one short point of a game-high totaling 22 points, eight rebounds and three steals, while Joseph Werner finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season.
- George Nehma (16), Danny Santana (11) and Brandon Blaker (11) all scored in double figures for the Roos.
- Canton led by as many as nine points after Blaker hit a jumper with 3:51 left in the first half. The Hornets closed the stanza on a 14-5 run to tie the game at 44 headed to the locker rooms.
- With the Roos leading 60-59 with eight minutes gone in the second half the Hornets went on a 14-4 run to open up a nine-point advantage with 8:25 to play. Canton immediately used a 7-0 run to cut it to two but the Hornets regained an eight-point advantage on multiple occasions including leading 88-80 with 2:34 to play.
- Canton trimmed the deficit to 88-86 with 57 seconds remaining after four points from Werner and two from Santana. After a defensive stop Canton had a chance to tie but missed a jumper and the Hornets hit four of their final six free throws to seal the victory.
- Timothy Hoar led all scorers with 23 points and 15 rebounds, while Damon Denteh added 22 points. Luke Fredsell (19) and Kyle Cary (17) also reached double figures.
- Canton dominated inside outscoring the Hornets 58-18 in the paint and had the edge in second chance points (16-5) and points off turnovers (23-13).
- Both teams shot 49 percent from the field but the difference was from behind the arc where Lyndon knocked down 20 threes hitting 50 percent of their attempts (20-for-40), while the Roos were just 5-for-20 (25 percent).
