Werner & Nehma Post Double-Doubles as Roos Earn Seventh Straight Win with Strong Second Half

Johnson, VT – Joseph Werner and George Nehma both recorded double-doubles as the SUNY Canton men's basketball team outscored host NVU-Johnson by 22 after halftime to secure their seventh consecutive win in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Werner posted a team-high 18 points and tied a game-high with 11 rebounds. Nehma posted a new career-high with 17 points while tying a game-best with 11 boards. Werner shot 9-for-13 from the field including a 9-for-11 mark from two-point range and added a game-high four assists. Nehma hit on seven of his 15 field goal attempts.
  • Quran DuBois chipped in 14 points including hitting on three of his four three-point attempts. Danny Santana added seven points and Ibu Smith totaled six points.
  • NVU-Johnson led by as many as eight in the opening half and took a 24-19 lead into intermission.
  • Canton stormed out of the break on an 8-0 run to take a 24-27 lead. The Badgers led 35-34 5 minutes, 42 seconds into the second half but after a three from Santana put Canton on top with 12:50 to play the Roos would not trail again in the contest.
  • Leading 43-42 with 9:14 to play Canton went on an 8-0 run and finished the contest on a 25-9 spurt.
  • The Roos shot 60 percent from the field (21-for-35) and three-point range (6-for-10) after intermission scoring 49 points.
  • Robert Dubose Jr. paced the Badgers as the lone scorer in double figures with 20 points.
