Potsdam, NY – Jesse Farabee scored twice and added an assist, while
Kyler Matthews totaled a goal and two assists to lead the SUNY Canton men's hockey team to a 5-3 road victory at SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday evening. The Roos, who received 30 votes in the latest USCHO Poll, are unbeaten over their last seven games (6-0-1).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kyler Matthews opened the scoring at 6:43 of the opening period off the setup from Sean David and Sam Martin. The goal was the fourth of the season for Matthews, while David picked up his ninth assist and Canton native Martin earned his first assist in his first collegiate game.
- The Bears leveled the score at one at the 9:14 mark on Nate Zweig's third tally of the season. The Roos regained the momentum when Farabee buried his team-leading 10th of the season with 13 ticks left in the opening period. Matthews and Madrid native Jake Mayette earned helpers on the play as the Roos led 2-1 after one.
- Farabee picked up where he left off at 5:18 of the second when Mayette found him open in the low slot as he put home his second of the night and 11th of the season. AJ D'Orazio was also credited with an assist.
- Potsdam got one back at 10:11 on the power play as Ben Thompson registered his fifth goal of the season.SUNY Canton took a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes of play.
- Canton made it 4-2 just 1:21 into the third with Matthew Headland lighting the lamp for the seventh time this season off passes from Matthews and Farabee.
- The Bears were whistled for a pair of minors four minutes later but the Canton power play was unable to convert the two minute 5-on-3 opportunity. The hosts swung the momentum two minutes later when Vinny Guimond got Potsdam within a goal on his seventh of the season.
- The Roos were whistled for a five-minute major midway through the period but successfully killed off the Potsdam power play. With just 2:21 remaining Canton was called for a pair of minor penalties but the PKcame up huge.
- The Bears called time out and pulled their goalie for the extra attacker already having the two-man advantage. However, 58 seconds later Dexter native Sean Shepard put home an empty netter to seal the win. Brendan McCormack and Jarrod Croswell earned assists on the key insurance marker.
- Michael Cerasuolo had another strong outing between the pipes stopping 40 of the 43 shots he faced (.930 save %) to improve to 4-2-2 on the season. Michael Paglucca made 28 saves in the loss for the Bears.
- Canton went 2-for-8 on the power play and 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.
