THE BASICS
  • Result: SUNY Canton 3, Buffalo State 2 – OT
  • Location: Buffalo State Ice Arena – Buffalo, NY
  • Records:  SUNY Canton (7-3-1) | (6-6-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After neither team found the back of the net in the opening 20 minutes it was Kyler Matthews who got the scoring started at 18:45 of the second period. Canton skated with an extended 52 second 5-on-3 and eight seconds after the Bengals got one skater back the Roos buried a 5-on-4 chance. Matthews put home his third goal of the season off passes from Sean David and Max Routledge.
  • Buffalo State evened the game at one apiece 9:13 into the third frame when Anthony Tulipane scored his second goal of the season.
  • The Roos pulled ahead once again on an unassisted tally from Brendan McCormack at 15:51, his third marker of the season.
  • The Bengals knotted the game once again with 2:57 remaining in regulation and were whistled for a tripping penalty following the goal. The Canton penalty kill came up big killing the infraction as the teams would skate to overtime.
  • Buffalo State was whistled for too many men on the ice midway through the extra session and that paid off when the Roos lit the lamp with one second left on the power play for the win. Bruce slotted his third goal of the season off the setup from AJ D'Orazio and Jesse Farabee.
  • Austin Washkurak backstopped the team with 28 saves as he improved to 4-1-0 on the season. Emil Norrman turned aside 31 shots in the loss.
  • Canton went 2-for-6 on the power play while killing off all six of its penalties.
