Cecelia Neally scored goals but the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team dropped a 9-2 road decision at SUNY Potsdam in their regular season finale on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos, who earned the one seed in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference (NAC) playoffs, were held to just one goal in each half as the Bears jumped out to a 4-1 halftime lead.
- Trailing 2-0 Neally found the back of the net to trim the deficit to 2-1. Potsdam rattled off five unanswered goals to take a 7-1 lead with 14:30 left in the second half.
- Denny's team-leading 50th goal of the season cut the deficit to five but the Bears scored two goals in the final 11 minutes to seal the win.
- Madison Leary made four saves in the opening half, while Nicole Piskorowski turned aside one shot after intermission. Katie Longamore made 15 saves for the hosts.
- Alexa Ferrer scored five goals for Potsdam, while Zoe Morgenroth added a goal and assist.
- Mia Jermano led Canton with five ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Denny tallied four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Jessica Pele stuffed the stat sheet with four ground balls, five caused turnovers and two draw controls. Maddy Weir chipped in with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- The Roos held the upper hand in shots on goal (17-14) and ground balls (26-21) but Longamore's big night made the difference.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Roos will host Husson University in a NAC semifinal game this weekend.
