Canton, NY – MaryClare Bowes led all players with four goals and five points but a pair of woman-up scores in the final six minutes lifted visiting Utica College to an 11-10 win in a highly entertaining contest on Tuesday evening in Canton.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- This is the second time in her last three games that Bowes has netted four scores as she also added an assist. Molly Denny recorded two goals, two assists and game-highs of seven ground balls and seven caused turnovers.
- Logan Bush tallied a goal, two assists and game-best six draw controls. Jessica Pele chipped in a goal and assist, four draw controls and four ground balls. Stephanie Thayer and EllaRose LeMay finished with a goal each and Shelby Roberts caused four turnovers.
- SUNY Canton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead behind a pair of scores from Bowes as they held Utica scoreless over the first 12:47 of the game. Stephanie Husnay got the Pioneers on the board just under 13 minutes in. Utica took a 6-5 lead into intermission.
- Canton took a 10-9 lead with just more than seven minutes to play following a Pele free-position goal.
- Utica knotted the game at 10-10 on a woman-up score with 5:41 to play and Addison Green appeared to give the Pioneers the lead with 4:43 remaining but the goal was disallowed due to an illegal stick.
- Kaitlynn Palmer scored the eventual game-winner with 2 minutes, 47 seconds remaining, her 32nd tally of the season. The score came just over a minute into a woman-up advantage, the Pioneers second straight goal with the extra attacker.
- The Roos held slim advantages in shots on goal (23-20), draw controls (13-10) and ground balls (26-20). Both teams struggled on free-position shots as Utica went 2-for-11 and Canton was 5-for-15.
- Palmer paced the Pioneers with three goals, while Lexi Scaccia and Katlyn Scarpinella had two each.
- Nicole Piskorowski made two saves in the first half in the loss, while Madison Leary turned aside seven shots after intermission. Hali Vandermeulen made 13 stops for Utica. Â
