Yelvington Scores Five as Roos Vault into First in NAC Standings

Delhi, NY – Josh Yelvington scored five goals and netted the game-winner with 3 minutes, 39 seconds remaining to lift the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team to a 10-9 road victory at SUNY Delhi on Saturday.
The win moves the Roos alone into first place at 5-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play with one game remaining in the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Yelvington led all players with five goals and added five ground balls. Noah Robinson and Dante Coco recorded two goals each, while Andrew Garrett also scored. Matt Conn had a strong game defensively with five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
  • Kody Kocsis made eight saves in the win, while picking up five ground balls. Travis Anderson took the loss for Delhi making 11 stops.
  • The Roos jumped out to a 4-2 lead after the opening quarter but the Broncos knotted the score at 5-5 at intermission.
  • Canton tallied four straight goals, three of which came from Yelvington, to turn a 5-4 deficit late in the first half into an 8-5 lead midway through the third quarter.
  • Delhi responded with three straight scores to tie the game at 8-8 early in the fourth.
  • Garrett gave Canton a 9-8 lead with 12:21 to play on a man-down goal and Nick Dower tied it up six seconds later with a man-down goal for Delhi.
  • Yelvington gave the Roos the lead for good with just under four minutes remaining. Kocsis saved a shot down the stretch to help preserve the win.
  • John Rohan III and Malik Talbert led Delhi with five points each.
