Robinson and Yelvington Lead Men’s Lacrosse in Road Win at Houghton

Houghton, NY – Noah Robinson and Josh Yelvington combined for seven goals and four assists as the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team earned a 16-14 road win at Houghton College on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Robinson paced Canton with four goals and added an assist, while Yelvington totaled three goals and three assists. Dante Coco also finished with a hat trick and Andrew Garrett recorded a pair of goals and an assist. Hunter Olsen posted a goal and two assists, Jacob Facey had a goal and assist, and Garrett Fields and Brandon Schmidt also found the back of the net.
  • Houghton jumped out to a 5-3 lead after the first quarter and after an even second quarter took an 8-6 lead into intermission.
  • The Roos ultimately won the game in the third quarter where they outscored Houghton, 5-1, and took an 11-9 advantage into the fourth frame. Canton opened up a 15-10 advantage with 9:55 remaining after Robinson's fourth goal of the game which all but sealed the win.
  • Robinson led Canton with nine ground balls, while Eli Kocsis picked up seven. Brandon Schmidt and Nick Walberger totaled six ground balls apiece, while Walberger won 18 of 26 faceoffs. Schmidt caused a team-best four turnovers.
  • Justin LaDuke made 14 saves in the win, while Jeremy Harris turned aside 12 shots in the loss.
  • Nathan Anderson led all players with seven goals for Houghton, while Jonathan Mayer finished with three goals and two assists.
