Denny and Kelly Lead Roos to Win in Season Opener at Morrisville, 12-10

Morrisville, NY – Molly Denny and Devin Kelly posted five points each to lead the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team to a 12-10 win v. Morrisville State in the Roos season opener on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Denny and Kelly totaled game-highs of five points as Denny posted four goals and one assist and Kelly added two goals and a game-high three assists. Logan Bush, Cecelia Neally and MaryClare Bowes chipped in two goals apiece, while Bush also added an assist. 
  • The Roos jumped out to a 3-1 lead and took a 6-4 lead into intermission as Denny completed the hat trick with 28 seconds left in the opening half.
  • The Mustangs cut the lead to one on three occasions including 9-8 with just over 15 minutes to play but two straight Canton goals off the sticks of Bowes and Neally regained a three-goal edge as the Roos earned the win.
  • Denny, Neally and Allison Wakefield totaled four ground balls each, while Kelly finished with four draw controls. Denny and Jessica Pele forced two turnovers each.
  • Madison Leary turned aside seven shots in her first collegiate victory for Canton, while Kadi Bice made six saves for the Mustangs.
  • Celia Abbott paced the hosts with three goals, while Courtney Cavellier, Melissa Lucciola and Grace Hanehan produced two goals apiece.
