Facey Posts Five Points; Men’s Lacrosse Falls in OT to Bard, 9-8

Canton, NY – Jacob Facey posted a career-best five points but the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team's comeback bid fell just short in a 9-8 loss to Bard College in overtime on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Facey tied a game-high with five points posting a team-best four goals along with one assist. Josh Yelvington tallied a goal and assist and Noah Robinson dished out two assists. Dante Coco, Hunter Olsen and Brad Sandroni also scored for the Roos.
  • The Raptors jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the opening quarter behind a pair of goals from Corey Rich, including one score coming with the man-up advantage. Bard held the upper hand 4-2 in the second period as they took a 6-2 lead into intermission.
  • Facey and Sandroni scored first-half goals for the Roos, while Nick Walberger went 8-for-10 in the X but Bard held a slim 14-11 shots on goal advantage.
  • Bard led 8-4 after Michael O'Donnell scored his first goal of the season with 4:27 left in the third quarter. The Roos rattled off four straight goals with two from Facey and one each from Coco and Olsen to knot the game at 8-8 with 9:02 to play.
  • Neither team was able to find the back of the net until Corey Rich scored his third goal of the game with 2 minutes, 15 seconds remaining in the first overtime.
  • Justin LaDuke turned aside 18 shots for the Roos, while Lyle Healy made 17 saves for Bard.
  • Brandon Schmidt had a strong game defensively with team-highs of seven ground balls and four caused turnovers. Robinson chipped in six ground balls and Garrett Fields totaled four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Peter Sojka led all players with five goals for the Raptors, while Rich added three goals and one assist.
