Robinson Hat Trick, Cerasuolo Shutout Leads Roos Past Falcons, 9-0

The SUNY Canton men's hockey team dominated from start to finish scoring seven goals over the first two periods on its way to a 9-0 win v. Albertus Magnus College on Saturday evening.

Michael Cerasuolo recorded a 42 save shutout, Noah Robinson finished with a hat trick in his second collegiate game, and Matthew Headland added two goals and an assist as 13 different players registered a point for Canton. The win is the fourth straight for the Roos (6-3-1).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos scored three first period goals to take a commanding lead early. Jesse Farabee buried his team-leading eighth goal of the season 10:50 into the first period. The tally was his fifth power play goal of the season coming off passes from Max Routledge and Brett Bannister.
  • Canton capitalized just 71 seconds later when Matthew Headland fired his fifth goal of the season past Pierce Diamond off the setup from Brendan McCormack. Sean David added an unassisted shorthanded goal with 16 seconds left in the first period.
  • The Roos, who are receiving votes in the latest United States College Hockey Online (USCHO) Top 15 Poll, kept their foot on the gas pedal with four more scores in the second. At the 4:34 mark AJ D'Orazio potted his third goal of the season. Farabee and William Ma picked up helpers on the play. Two minutes later Tyson Bruce made it 5-0 with McCormack and Jarrod Croswell credited with helpers.
  • Headland slotted his second of the night 17 seconds later with Luke Hincenbergs and Stuart Fierheller picking up assists. Noah Robinson concluded the second period scoring his first collegiate goal unassisted in his second game at the 17:50 mark.
  • Robinson added two third period tallies, a shorthanded goal and an even strength tally off a pass from Matthew Headland, to finish with the hat trick.
  • Michael Cerasuolo recorded a 42 save shutout with double digit stops in every period. Diamond turned aside seven shots in the first period, while Thomas Walker made 22 saves over the final two periods.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Roos take part in their trip to Europe where they will play five games from December 14th to December 23rd. The teams has a month off from regular season contests as it will visit Buffalo State on January 10th at 7 p.m.
