Plattsburgh, NY – Max Routledge scored twice and
Austin Washkurak tied a career-high with 40 saves as the SUNY Canton men's hockey team won its third straight contest earning a 4-3 win at Plattsburgh State on Friday evening.
The win for the Roos, who are receiving votes in the latest USCHO Top 15 Poll, is the third straight one-goal victory and the team's fourth consecutive win v. the Cardinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The hosts wasted no time getting on the board as Ryan Kuhn potted his first goal of the season just 14 seconds into the contest.
- Jesse Farabee evened the game at one apiece on the power play tallying his team-leading seventh goal of the season at 9:48 of the opening period. Kyler Matthews and Sean David picked up helpers on the play.
- Canton took a 2-1 lead into first intermission after Brendan McCormack lit the lamp for the second time in his rookie season. Brett Bannister and Stuart Fierheller assisted the score.
- Shortly after killing off their third penalty of the night, the Roos extended their lead to 3-1 at 6:30 of the middle period. Routledge buried his fifth goal of the season off passes from Fierheller and Luke Hincenbergs.
- Ryan Hogg got the Cardinals within one three minutes later on his fourth of the season.
- Routledge extended the lead back to two when he finished his sixth goal of the year and second of the night, this one unassisted at 15:14. The sophomore now has seven points on five goals and two assists over his last five games.
- Adam Tretowicz got the hosts back within one at 7:21 of the third period.
- With 2:48 remaining in the game the teams were whistled for matching minors, while Plattsburgh also picked up a 10-minute misconduct. Plattsburgh put one shot on net during the 4-on-4 and with five seconds left in the matching minors pulled goaltender Brandon Wells for the extra attacker.
- Washkurak made the only other save he needed to as the Roos secured their fourth consecutive win v. Plattsburgh.
- Washkurak tied a career-high with 40 saves in his third straight win, while Wells made 23 stops in the loss. The senior also made 40 saves in a 3-2 loss at Nazareth on January 9, 2018.
- Canton's special teams went 6-for-7 combined as they finished 1-for-2 with the skater advantage and killed off all five of their penalties.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Roos have a quick turnaround as they return to the ice on Saturday when they visit New Haven, CT to take on Albertus Magnus College at 7 p.m.
