  • Neither team found the back of the net in the first 20 minutes as the Roos held a 13-9 shots advantage in the opening period.
  • St. Michael's got the scoring started at 9:39 of the second period. Andrew Olevitz fed a breakout pass to Colin O'Connor who hit Brandon Mitchell as they skated towards the blue line. Mitchell fired a shot high over net that banged off the end boards and right out in front to O'Connor who buried the deflection on the doorstep.
  • The Purple Knights were whistled for back-to-back penalties late in the first period as the Roos had an extended 5-on-3 for 1 minute, 42 seconds. That paid off with eight seconds left in the two-skater advantage as they evened the score at one.
  • Tyson Bruce skated the puck into the zone and behind the Purple Knights net. He fed Sean David at the point who played the puck back to Bruce above the left circle. Bruce's shot from the high circle was redirected home off the stick of Jesse Farabee.
  • Corson Green gave Canton its first lead of the contest at 5:28 of the third period. He carried the puck into the zone, circled behind net, and used a wrap-around shot to beat St. Mike's goaltender Alec Lindberg glove side.
  • Trailing by one the Purple Knights where whistled for a penalty with 1 minute, 24 seconds to play. The Roos appeared to score an empty-netter but were whistled for offsides. After St. Mike's won a faceoff with one minute remaining they pulled the goalie for the extra attacker.
