McMaster’s 12 Kills Leads Roos v. Saints

Canton, NY – Melissa McMaster led the Roos with 12 kills but visiting St. Lawrence earned wins in three straight sets to overcome an early SUNY Canton lead and earn a 3-1 (13-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23) win in the Roos House on Tuesday evening.

The Roos (8-5) roared out to a 15-5 start in the opening set that included 10 straight points behind the service game of Tatum Lafrance. The Roos cruised to the opening set victory.

St. Lawrence (9-5) responded taking control of the second set leading 18-9. SUNY Canton rattled off six straight points to get within 21-18 and trimmed the deficit to as little as 24-22 before. Marissa Parker kill gave the Saints the second set.

Canton led 13-8 in the third set before the Saints scored eight of the next nine points to open up a 15-14 advantage. The Roos led 21-19 later in the frame but four consecutive points gave a 23-21 advantage to the visitors. Canton got with 23-22 but a Roos service error and Saints kill from Grace Kelly closed out the third.

St. Lawrence jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the fourth but Canton knotted the game at six apiece. The Roos led late 23-22 but three straight points from the Saints closed out the match.

McMaster led the Roos with 12 kills, while Brynna Harris (9), Skye Hansen (8) and Tatum Lafrance (7) all chipped in offensively in the kills department. Jenna Roat tied a match-high with 18 digs, while Jenifer Morgan-Aubin chipped in 11. Peyton Robinson dished out a match-best 35 assists to go with her nine digs.
