Canton, NY – SUNY Canton partnered with the Crane School of Music to raise $1,660 for Puerto Rico Hurricane relief efforts on Monday evening at SUNY Potsdam's Sara M. Snell Theater at the Crane School of Music.
Â
Crane School of Music pianist Julie Miller played Puerto Rican and Argentinian music, and astronomer and physicist Dr. Aileen O'Donogue from St. Lawrence University discussed her research in Puerto Rico.
Â
The Crane Latin Ensemble concluded the presentation, and following the event Puerto Rican SUNY Canton students greeted the public in the lobby. The SUNY Canton baseball relief effort has been led by Head Coach
Joe Carbone and Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Victor Rivera.
Â
Carbone credits Miller for putting together the terrific event on Monday evening and for their support along with Jane Wells and the Potsdam First Presbyterian Church.
Â
One relief trip has already taken place and several others are being planned for the future. All volunteers pay their own expenses, and all money raised provides items directly to hurricane survivors. Tax-deductible donations may be given by contacting Coach Carbone at
