Canton, NY – Three different players scored at least three goals and the SUNY Canton defense held visiting Wells College to just five goals behind a 10 save performance from
Kody Kocsis as the Roos earned a 17-5 victory on Tuesday.

SUNY Canton (4-1), winners of four straight, scored the first four goals of the contest to jump out to an early lead. The Express (2-2) found the back of the net twice over the final seven minutes of the quarter to get within 4-2 after 15 minutes of play.

The Roos outscored Wells 3-1 in the second quarter to take a 7-3 lead into intermission. Canton dominated play in the second half outscoring the visitors, 10-2. The hosts held the upper hand after intermission in shots on goal (16-6), face offs (10-4) and ground balls (31-10).

Andrew Garrett led the way with five points on three goals and two assists, while
Dante Coco added four goals and six ground balls.
Jake Sutton finished with three goals and
Trenton Yule and
Josh Yelvington added two goals and one assist apiece.

Kyle Smith finished with three assists, Yule added six ground balls and
Brandon Rodee picked up a game-best seven ground balls. Defensively
Tucker Ainslie,
Hunter Yerdon and Brandon Schmidt caused two turnovers apiece.

Kocsis made 10 saves on 15 shots (.667 save percentage) for the Roos, while Zach Simone stopped 12 shots for Wells.

The five goals given up by the Roos are the fewest in a game since they defeated SUNY Poly, 8-5, on March 23rd, 2016.
