Castine, ME – Peyton Robinson and
Jenna Roat both eclipsed career milestones on Saturday as the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team split a pair of matches v. Maine Maritime Academy and Husson University in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday.
The Roos fell to the host Mariners, 3-0 (17-25, 12-25, 13-25) before bouncing back with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-12) win v. the Eagles. SUNY Canton now sits at 11-12 overall and 2-1 in NAC play.
Match 1 – Box Score
Host Maine Maritime used a straight set victory to get by the Roos in the opener. The Mariners combined for 29 kills in the match compared to just 15 for SUNY Canton. The Roos also committed 13 hitting errors, while MMA hit .371 (29-6-62).
Marissa Ixtlahuac led Canton with six kills, while
Jenna Roat totaled nine digs.
Peyton Robinson dished out 14 assists.
Match 2 – Box Score
The Roos earned a straight set victory v. Husson in the nightcap producing 44 kills compared to just 13 for the Eagles.
Skye Hansen led the Roos with 13 kills, while
Melissa McMaster posted 11 kills.
Tatum Lafrance chipped in seven kills and Ixtlahuac and
Brynna Harris produced six kills apiece. Roat recorded 12 digs defensively and Robinson dished out 41 assists.
Robinson eclipsed the 4,000 career assist mark and Roat reached the 1,500 career dig mark with their performances on the day.
The women's volleyball team is back in action next Saturday in NAC Pool Play when it hosts NVU-Lyndon at 10 AM followed by a 2 p.m. contest v. NVU-Johnson, both in the Roos House.
