CHS BOX SCORE

Canton, NY – Tyler Ralph scored twice and Joey Vocino added a goal and two assists as four different players had multi-point nights in a 6-2 win for the SUNY Canton men's hockey team over Chatham University on Thursday evening in the Roos House.

Chatham (1-10-2) jumped out to an early lead just 17 seconds in when Chad Bell redirected a Matthew Ho shot from the point. Clay Plyler also earned a helper on the play.

Ralph evened the score at one at 5:41 of the opening period when Zach Pease hit J.P. Langlois with a pass at the point. His slap shot was redirected home by Ralph for his second goal of the season.

The Roos (3-9-1) took their first lead of the contest at 18:14 of the first when Reily McIntosh slotted his first goal of the season putting home a Kyle Matsumoto rebound off the setup from J.P. Langlois. Canton took a 2-1 lead into first intermission.

Ralph tallied his second of the night on a great individual effort going coast to coast and putting a shot top shelf past Cougar net minder Zach Young. Thomas Crabtree started the breakout on the near boards for the Roos.

Canton extended its lead to three when a loose puck deflected to Vocino out in front and he buried his fourth goal of the season. Pease was credited with his second helper of the night on the play.

Chatham got within three at 2:37 of the third on a defensive zone turnover behind net as Daniel Cangelosi netted his third of the season.

The Roos regained their three-goal advantage at 8:06 of the third. Jake Mayette won a battle at the near boards and cycled the puck to Vocino behind the net. He found Joe Deveny in the low slot as he beat Young over the glove just inside the right post.

Josh Sova closed out the scoring for Canton at the 15:05 mark of the period. Vocino fed the puck from the blue line to Tyler Bullard below the left circle. He found Sova on a pass across the crease as he beat Young far side for the 6-2 final.

Austin Washkurak made 25 saves in his second win of the season, while Young stopped 28 shots for the Cougars. The Roos' special teams units had a tremendous night going 2-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

McIntosh scored his first collegiate goal for the Roos, while Mayette, a Madrid native, recorded his first collegiate point.
