Werner Hits Game-Winner in Final Second to Lift Roos to 69-67 Win

Chestnut Hill, MA – Freshman Joseph Werner hit the game-winning shot with half a second remaining to lift the men's basketball team to a 69-67 win against host Pine Manor College on Friday.
 
Jordan Stewart hit a pair of free throws with nine seconds remaining to put the Roos (4-11) up three but Eugene Everett responded with a three-pointer for the Gators (6-7) to tie the game at 67 apiece setting up the heroics for Werner.
 
The Roos and Gators originally started the game on Friday but it was postponed due to a facility issue and unplayable conditions with the score tied at 26 at intermission.
 
Stewart paced four Roos in double figures with 15 points and game-high seven assists, while Danny Santana and Ibu Smith added 14 points apiece. Werner chipped in 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
 
Ellis Reed led Pine Manor with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Jamel Hamans and Lou Savage added nine points each.
