Potsdam, NY – Josh Yelvington netted his first hat trick with the Roos but visiting SUNY Canton dropped a 21-6 decision at Clarkson University on Wednesday.
Clarkson (1-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead midway through the opening quarter but the Roos tied the game at two on a pair of Yelvington goals 1:38 apart. From there the Golden Knights scored 10 unanswered goals to take a 12-2 lead into intermission.
Jake Sutton got the Roos (0-2) on the board early in the second half on his first goal of the season. The Roos also received second half goals from Yelvington,
Trenton Yule and
Jack Elberty.
Andrew Bowes paced the Roos with three ground balls, while
Tucker Ainslie added three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Kyle Brown and Ryan DaRin paced Clarkson with three goals each, while Kevin Munn, Conor Bartlett, Ryan St. Croix and Marcus Lavarnway posted two goals each.
Kody Kocsis made 20 saves in net for the Roos, while Nick Strandholm made two stops in the win. Colin Holt and Tim St. Croix also made appearances between the pipes for the Knights.
