Williams Nets Career-High 30, Fletcher and Richardson Post Double-Doubles in Win v. Villa Maria

Canton, NY – Adrian Williams scored a career-high 30 points to lead the SUNY Canton men's basketball team to a 90-71 victory against Villa Maria College on Saturday afternoon.

The Roos (16-8), winners of six straight and seven in a row at home, started the game on fire from the field hitting four of their first five three-pointers and 11 of their first 18 shots over the first 10 minutes. The Roos used a 21-2 to run open a 31-10 lead just over midway through the half.

Villa Maria (16-13) kept within striking distance as the Roos carried a 43-32 lead into intermission. Williams led all players with 16 points hitting four shots from deep, while Annorh added 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting. Gerald Bibbs paced the Vikings with 12 points.

Canton extended the lead to 17 early in the second half and cruised to the 19-point victory.

Williams led all players with 30 points on 10-for-18 shooting including a 6-for-9 mark from long distance. Romario Fletcher posted his 14th double-double of the season with 22 points and 19 rebounds, while Rashad Richardson also recorded a double-double on 10 points and 12 boards. Sam Annorh chipped in with 15 points and six assists, while Ibu Smith added eight in the scoring column.

The Roos shot 59 percent from three-point range (10-for-17) and 80 precent from the free-throw line (20-for-25).

"I thought that today was a great win for us, against a really good Villa Maria team," Head Coach Ben Thompson said. "Our guys did a good job of being focused for 40 minutes. We look forward to honoring our seniors tomorrow at 4. We hope that our campus and community will come out to show great respect to our seniors as we honor their careers."

Bibbs led the visitors with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Eric Waters also posted a double-double on 14 points and 10 boards. Andre Diggs (12) and Damone Brown Jr. (11) also tallied in double figures.
