Morrisville, NY – Joey Vocino and
Tyler Bullard posted a goal and assist each but Nick DeVito scored all five goals in a 5-3 win for Morrisville State on Saturday evening.
The Roos (2-7-0), who outshot Morrisville 43-23 on the night, opened the scoring just 3:05 into the contest when Vocino slotted his third goal of the season. Bullard and
Ben Beasley earned helpers on the power play tally. Canton took a 1-0 lead into first intermission, holding a 19-6 shots advantage in the opening period.
DeVito posted a hat trick in the second period, while
Joe Deveny scored for Canton as Morrisville took a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes. The Mustangs (4-6-3) extended their lead to 4-2 on DeVito's fourth goal of the night at 5:15 of the third.
Canton would trim the deficit to one at 10:38 on their second power play goal of the night as Bullard converted off passes from
Josh Sova and Vocino but DeVito sealed the win with his first of the night and eighth goal on the season with 1:41 remaining.
Josh Erickson made 18 saves for the Roos, while Jared Young made 40 stops for Morrisville.
