Canton, NY – Jordan Stewart paced the Roos with 21 points but visiting Sage Colleges closed the game on a 23-8 run over the final nine minutes to earn a 76-74 victory over the SUNY Canton men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon.

Isaiah Scurry hit the go-ahead three-pointer with eight seconds remaining and a
Victor Bakre three-point attempt with one second left was blocked to seal the win for the Gators (3-2).

The Roos (2-5) jumped out to a quick 12-2 lead 4:08 into the game following a
Brandon Adkisson three-pointer. Sage responded with a 17-11 run to get within 23-19 and eventually took their first lead at 30-29 following a layup by Isaiah Scurry with 3:20 to play in the first half. The Gators took a slim, 39-38 lead into intermission.

Adrian Williams led the Roos with 11 points in the opening half, while Adkisson added eight. Scurry posted 11 first half points, while Chris Kidd and Wayne Weir totaled 10 points apiece.

The Roos extended their lead to as many as 13 at 64-51 following an
Andrew Fitch basket in transition off the feed from Williams with 9:38 remaining and held that same lead with 8:59 to play.

Sage tooks its first lead of the second half at 73-72 following a Scurry tip-in with 2:10 remaining

The Roos had a chance to take the lead but
Jordan Stewart's layup attempt missed with 21 seconds left and
Ibu Smith made a huge game-saving block on a Chris Kidd attempt in transition with 16.5 seconds to play. Â

Scurry hit a three-pointer from the left wing off a Kidd pass out of the timeout to give the Gators a two point lead.

Stewart led the Roos with 21 points on 7-for-10 shooting and added eight rebounds. Williams chipped in 15 points and
Joseph Werner,
Brandon Adkisson and
Ibu Smith added eight points apiece.

Scurry paced the Gators with a game-high 22 points, while Kidd (18), Weir (13) and Anthony Mitchell (12) also scored in double figures. Â
