Sova and Vocino Score in Road Setback at Potsdam

Potsdam, NY – Josh Sova and Joey Vocino found the back of the net as the Roos trimmed the deficit to one in the third period but a pair of goals in the final minute lifted host SUNY Potsdam to a 5-2 win v. the Roos on Saturday evening at Maxcy Ice Arena.

Joey Gilhooly got the Bears (3-0-1) on the board just 41 seconds into the game off a pass from Tyler Young. The Roos (1-2-0) evened the score at one at the 11:58 mark of the second period on Josh Sova's team-leading third tally of the season. Joe Deveny earned a helper on the play.

Potsdam regained the lead with 1:46 remaining in the second period on Brett Horn's first of the season. Dylan Vander Esch increased the hosts lead to two just 42 seconds into the final period.

Joey Vocino slotted the Roos second shorthanded goal of the season at 11:05 of the third to get the Roos within one.

Canton pulled the goalie with 40 seconds remaining for the extra skater but just four seconds later Ben Mariano iced the game with an empty-netter. The Bears would add a fifth tally from Horn with two seconds remaining for the 5-2 final.

Michael Cerasuolo turned aside 30 shots for the Roos, while Nate Skidmore made 22 saves for Potsdam.
