Roos Come Close to Upset at #9 Oswego State

Oswego, NY – Canton was able to find the back of the net twice, but #9 Oswego State maintained their lead throughout the contest, just edging the Roos 3-2 on Saturday night.

The Lakers got out to an early 2-0 lead by the middle of the second period. However, Canton finally broke through the Lakers defense in the 15th minute of the second period with a goal by Joe Deveny assisted by Patrick Farnan and Joey Vocino.

Oswego would score again creating a 3-1 deficit, but the Roos would battle back with just 33 seconds left in the second period when Tyler Bullard scored an unassisted goal, his second of the season.

Though Canton would get off seven shots in the third period, the 3-2 score would hold for the Lakers.

Goalie, Austin Washkurak, turned aside 37 shots on the night while Cedric Hansen made 20 saves for the Lakers.
The men's hockey team returns to the ice on Friday when it hosts Brockport at 7 p.m. in the Roos House. Stay up to date with the latest news directly from the SUNY Canton Athletics department by "liking" us on Facebook and "following" our Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts.
