Sydney Jordan recorded a hat trick and added an assist and
Brooke Susac posted a 30 save shutout as the SUNY Canton women's hockey team cruised to an 8-0 win v. visiting Salem State on Saturday afternoon.

The Roos improve to 4-1-0 overall and 3-1-0 in Colonial Hockey Conference play, while the Vikings drop to 0-5-1 overall and within CHC competition.

Tessa Dobson opened the scoring 12:19 into the opening period off passes from
Sophia Koenig and
Katie Ferguson. Koenig hit Dobson with a pass across the face of goal and Dobson put a one-timer past the glove of Katherine Crane. The Roos held a 14-7 shots advantage and 1-0 lead heading to first intermission.

Ashley Gillies doubled the Canton lead 3:50 into the middle period on the power play as
Tess Adams and Jordan earned helpers on the play as Gillies beat Crane on a beautiful shot top shelf over the glove. Â

Ferguson slotted the fourth goal of her rookie season just over a minute later following a shot from Koenig that sailed over the net and off the end boards. Jordan netted her first of the game at the 12:25 mark of the second.
Ashley Gillies left the puck for Jordan as she circled behind her and Jordan and Adams played a beautiful give-and-go as Jordan slid the puck over Crane's blocker.

Koenig gave the Roos a 5-0 lead 61 seconds later when Gillies swung the puck from right to left to
Grace Page in the defensive zone. Page pushed the puck along the near boards hitting Koenig on a beautiful break out pass putting her in alone on the goaltender as she flipped a shot over the pad. Jordan closed out the five-goal period with 23 ticks left in the second as
Jessica Pele played the puck behind the net to Adams who fed Jordan at the right circle as she wristed home her second of the game.

Koenig added her fourth point of the contest at 15:32 of the third when she beat Crane from the high slot off passes from
Alexa Parigi and
Alyssa Hein. Jordan closed the scoring with a short-handed tally with 2:07 remaining beating the goaltender glove side.

Susac stopped all 30 shots she faced in her second shutout of the season, while Crane made 34 saves for Salem State.

The Roos went 2-for-6 with the skater advantage, while killing off all five of its penalties.
