Women’s Volleyball Closes out Brockport Invitational v. Mount Union and Host Eagles

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team dropped a pair of contests to Mount Union and Brockport on the second day of the Brockport Invitational on Saturday.
 
The Roos (5-6) fell 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-16) to the Raiders (10-2) before dropping a 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-20) decision to the host Eagles (12-2).
 
Game 1 – Box Score
Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) led the Roos with 11 kills and 11 digs in the opening match, while Haley Riley (Lowville, NY) chipped in with nine kills. Jenna Roat (Penfield, NY) and Morgan Wicks (Hartford, NY) totaled 22 and 21 digs, respectively, while Peyton Robinson (Bloomfield, NY) dished out 28 assists. Shea Norton (Batavia, NY) added six kills.
 
Ten hitting errors for the Roos proved costly in the opening set but both teams produced 14 kills in the second set. Mount Union hit .238 on 42 attack attempts over the final frame to secure the sweep.
 
Game 2 – Box Score
Norton led the Roo attack in the nightcap with 11 kills on 29 attempts, while Riley added eight putdowns. Cornish added seven kills to go with her 10 digs, while Roat dug up 21 balls. Robinson proved to be the catalyst offensively with 30 assists.
 
The Roos combined for 26 kills compared to 29 putdowns for Brockport in the first and third sets but seven errors compared to just six kills in the middle frame proved costly for SUNY Canton.
