Both teams played a back-and-forth match early as the Roos (5-7) and Golden Knights (9-4) were tied at 11 midway through the opening set. Clarkson rattled off nine straight points to take a commanding 20-11 lead on their way to securing a 25-15 first set win.
The Golden Knights jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead in the middle frame and led 12-9 but four consecutive points for the Roos including a kill and ace from Roat gave Canton a 13-12 advantage midway through the set. Clarkson responded with seven of the next eight points to open up a 19-14 advantage on its way to the 25-17 second set victory.
Clarkson took an early 10-4 lead in the third and final set and despite trailing 22-18, SUNY Canton showed their mental toughness once again putting together four consecutive points including a pair of putdowns from Cornish to tie the set at 22 apiece. The Golden Knights tallied the final three points to earn the sweep.
