Yule Nets Game-Winner in Final Minute to Defeat Express, 12-11

Canton, NY – Trenton Yule (Oswego, NY) scored with 59 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team to a 12-11 victory against visiting Wells College on Wednesday.

Wells opened up an early lead behind goals from Alex Milliken and Aaron Heisey. The Roos eventually got on the board midway through the first quarter when Chris Gamble (Carthage, NY) buried his 13th goal of the season off a pass from Kyle Smith (Evans Mills, NY). SUNY Canton responded with three more consecutive goals off the sticks of Cam Carter (Colonie, NY), Luke DeGaetano (Canandaigua, NY) and Gamble to take a 4-2 lead after 15 minutes of play.

The Express (1-8) tallied three out of the four second quarter goals as the teams played to a 5-5 tie at intermission.

The Roos (4-5) slotted three straight scores out of intermission from Skye Sunday (Akwesasne, NY), Gamble and Trenton Yule (Oswego, NY) to open up an 8-5 advantage. After Sunday completed his hat trick 30 seconds into the fourth quarter, Wells ripped off three straight goals to tie the game at 10.

Gamble put the Roos on top with 5:37 remaining on his 16th goal of the season but Milliken knotted the game once again with 2:19 remaining to set up the heroics for Yule.

Gamble led the way with six ground balls, while DeGaetano added five pickups. Kody Kocsis (Brasher Falls, NY) turned aside 12 shots between the pipes, while Zachary Simone made 10 stops for Wells.
